More medical lecturers are leaving the public universities!

I have been reading STAR online newspaper which reported that there are many medical lecturers are leaving the public universities. The main reason is not money, it is workloads and not being appreciated. Lecturing in today's world is extremely challenging, a lecturer is expected to lecture, to tutor, to supervise Master and PhD students, to publish papers in a refereed journal ( it must be SCOPUS, or else, just forget it), to be involved with community service, to actively engage with students and many other tasks. Well, it is not that lecturers are complaining, yes at one point, some argues that you have flexible time. Again, time is not an issue, sometimes you have to work 7 days a week to accomplish your listed tasks. Sometimes, you have last minute task given by your authorities. The main reason I guess why we stay in this profession is due to self satisfaction, the job is not glamour, unless you talk in television. Be it Ustaz or Ustazah Pilihan, that is another story. At the end of the day, you may ask yourself, whether your contribution is worthwhile or not. Of course, work is part of our ibadah. However, do not deny, the rights of others toward you, your kids, family and friends, The Silaturahim. What happened if you work and rarely visit or even make a call to others?Life is precious, it is not a matter of work only. Allah says : observe your relation with Allah, also don't forget hablun mina nass.

Holiday December

School holiday started earlier for the secondary students. How to time flies and it is going to be two weeks before the school begins. New chapter for the school students. The courage to start a new semester is still not around, for me, as a mother. Less traffic jams and less rushing here and there. How do I really induldge the school vacation. Despite my tight schedule, I managed to bring the kids to visit Surabaya ( it was work and play visit), Singapore and a short vacation in Kuala Lumpur. Despite that we just stay in the hotel's room. I guess we are thankful for the opportunity given. Ya Allah, shower us with your blessings.

Sweet September 2013

Masya Allah! September comes, another four months to 2014. Alhamdulillah, Allah for giving me the opportunity to cherish the time given. So many things happened, how fast time flies. A year feels like a month, a day gone by just like a blink. After all, life is about appreciate and forgiveness. The breaking news on fuel increasing breaks many heart and might be sensitive for the meantime. Life is full of struggle and gratitude. Yups, if we comparative study, we should be thankful, but what I dislike comparison?

welcome semester 1 2018/2019

Every new semester promises new experience and adventure. Looking back, alhamdulillah, this coming November marked my work anniversary as an educator. I joined as an assistant lecturer in one a reputable private university in Malaysia on 1st November 1999. I was blessed to have a supportive and understanding colleagues. My boss Dr Yusuf, is not only so fatherly, but he always support his staff and strive for excellence. I learned a lot about academia world from here. Everytime, I passed along the campus, it reminds me of the early days in academia. Teaching is not a simple task.
